This means while you are cooking up your family’s favorite seasonal dishes you should pamper your pet with their very own homemade treats!
The following easy to make dog treat recipes will have your pet begging for more all season!
Pumpkin and Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- Whole wheat flour – 2 ½ cups
- Canned pumpkin – ½ cup
- Eggs – 2
- Ground cinnamon – ½ tsp
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Peanut butter – 2 tbsp
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 °F
- Combine peanut butter, pumpkin, eggs, flour, butter, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl and mix together (add water if needed)
- After mixing the dough should be stiff and dry
- Roll the dough into a 1/2 inch thick roll and cut it into ½ inch pieces or use a cookie cutter
- Place cut cookies onto a greased cookie sheet
- Bake in the oven for 40 minutes or until hard
Cinnamon Bun Bites
Ingredients:
- Whole wheat flour – 2 cups
- Large egg – 1
- Baking powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – ¼ tsp
- Cinnamon – 1 tsp
- Milk or water – ½ cup
- Canola oil – ¼ cup
- Honey – 2 tbsp
- Pecans or walnuts (chopped finely) – ¼ cup
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 °F
- Combine flour, salt, and baking powder in a large bowl and mix together
- Combine oil, water or milk, and one egg into a small bowl and mix together
- Pour the wet ingredients into the large bowl with the dry ingredients and mix together until it creates a soft dough
- On a lightly floured flat surface, roll the dough out until measures about 8” x 14” inches.
- Lightly sprinkle the cinnamon and nuts on top then drizzle honey over it
- Use a cookie cutter in any shape you like to create the cookie
- Use a nonstick spray on a cookie sheet pan then place the cookies in the pan
- Bake the cookies in the oven for 15 minutes
- This recipe makes 24 dog treat cookies
Oatmeal Pumpkin Spice Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- Water – ½ cup
- Whole wheat flour – 2 ½ cups
- Canned pumpkin – ½ cup
- Steel-cut oatmeal – ½ cup
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp
- Cinnamon – ½ tsp
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375 F
- Combine cinnamon, olive oil, pumpkin, and water into a large bowl and mix together
- Gradually add the flour and oatmeal to create a stiff dry dough
- Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s about ¼ inch thick
- Use cookie cutters or a knife to cut the dough into pieces
- Place the cut cookies on a non-stick cookie sheet
- Bake for 30 to 40 minutes
Candy Corn Frozen Dog Treats
Ingredients:
- Plain non-fat yogurt – 1 ½ cups
- Small bananas – 2
- Canned pumpkin – ½ cup
- Paper cups – 3 oz size is recommended
Directions:
- Set the paper cups up on the counter
- Place a spoonful of yogurt into the bottom of each cup
- Add a spoonful of pumpkin into each cup
- Add a spoonful of mashed banana into each cup
- Freeze for 1 ½ hour
- Once the treat is completely frozen peel off the paper cup and serve to your dog in a bowl
