Woofs for Warriors

The Woofs for Warriors program is a special project started by the Mountains to Miracles Veterans Foundation (MMVF) to help veterans cope with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and similar conditions. Although canines have been companions to humans since before recorded history, only recently have the therapeutic benefits of the relationship between dogs and humans have been studied. Service dogs have been trained to help many people with disabilities. They are even actively used in the military and law enforcement. Our goal is to match veterans with suitable shelter dogs and to provide assistance with the care of the dog so that the pair can have a successful relationship.
