2nd Annual Puptoberfest
The 11th Hour Rescue of NY had their 2nd Annual Puptoberfest event on Saturday September 21st at the Boar’s Nest Bar and Grill to celebrate saving the lives of 250 dogs in under 3 years. The 11th Hour Rescue of NY rescues dogs at their eleventh hour, when they are scheduled to be put to death by shelters that can no longer care for them. They give the dogs they rescue all the medical attention they require, a place to live, and through their adoption services, a second chance at a happy and fulfilled life. The event was a huge success and everyone that attended had a great time! Like the 11th Hour Rescue of NY on Facebook and keep your eye out for photos from the event!
While I was at Puptoberfest I met Hudson and his family. What a sweet and special dog, I was so happy to finally meet him!
Pet Tech & The PetSaver Class
On Sunday I took the Pet Tech PetSaver class at Doggy Playcare. Pet Tech is the first international training center dedicated to CPR, First Aid & Care for dogs and cats.
I met Thomas Davis, a Pet Tech certified Instructor back in February when I interviewed him for the dog blog. Being the crazy dog mom that I am I worry about my dogs on a daily basis and always want to keep them healthy and safe. I worry about collisions when they chase each other, I worry about choking when they play with toys and chew on bones, I worry about their safety when I take them around other dogs that I don’t know. After talking to Thomas I knew I wanted to take the PetSaver class to obtain the knowledge I need if I ever came across an emergency situation.
The PetSaver program topics include restraining and muzzling, rescue breathing, canine CPR, choking management, bleeding and shock management, snout-to-tail assessment for injury and wellness, Pet First Aid Kit contents, insect bites, heat and cold injuries, seizure and caring for your senior Pet-izen. I can definitely say I learned a lot from Thomas and this class – he is extremely passionate about dogs and teaching people how to keep their dog(s) healthy and safe. The PetSaver class has a lot of valuable information – I would highly recommend taking this class if you are a dog owner, a dog business owner or just love dogs.
